Recent developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict have attracted global attention, especially with rising tensions and changing dynamics. Since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, the situation in the region has continued to develop with various political, economic and humanitarian implications. First, in the military aspect, recently there has been a fierce war in the Donbas region, where Ukrainian troops are trying to defend their positions from Russian attacks. Ukraine has received significant support from Western countries, including supplies of modern weapons such as air defense systems and combat vehicles, which have strengthened its combat capabilities. In addition, joint NATO military exercises are also taking place to improve the skills of the Ukrainian armed forces. Second, the economic impact of this conflict is very large. Sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia resulted in a significant decline in the Russian economy. The energy sector is at the center of attention, with oil and gas prices rising sharply on global markets. This not only affects Russia, but also impacts the economies of European countries that depend on Russian energy supplies. Fourth, global geopolitics is experiencing significant changes. The consequences of this conflict have changed global alliances and increased tensions between Russia and Western countries. China, as an important actor, tries to maintain a balance between supporting Russia and participating in international diplomacy. Meetings between world leaders, including the G20 Summit, are often used to discuss the impact of these conflicts on global stability. Fifth, a diplomatic perspective emerges as a hope for resolution. Several negotiation initiatives are starting to appear, although the results have not shown significant progress. Mediation efforts by third countries, including Türkiye, are gaining attention, but still face many obstacles. With the situation continuing to evolve, the challenges ahead appear complex. The international community hopes that there will be a peaceful solution, but the continuation of this conflict still demands attention and response from the whole world in order to end the suffering experienced by the Ukrainian people.
